Jon Kok

General Piano Studies  |  Advanced Classical Studies

Jon is a pianist and music educator with a strong background in piano performance, education, and teaching. He studied Music and Media at Wheaton College, where he worked closely with Dr. Daniel Paul Horn and Dr. Karin Edwards, and previously studied with Dr. Peter Mack during high school. Jon also holds a Master’s degree in Education from The Master’s University, which has shaped his thoughtful, student-centered approach to teaching.

As a performer, Jon has experience in both solo and collaborative settings. In 2013, he and his sister placed third nationally in the MTNA Duet Competition and were featured on King FM 98.1. He has also used piano in a wide range of real-world musical contexts, including schools, churches, and performance settings, and has played with a band featured at a Seattle Seahawks pre-game event and at the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) in Seattle. These experiences have given him a broad musical perspective that informs both his performing and teaching.

As a teacher, Jon values individualized instruction that meets students where they are and supports long-term musical growth. His lessons emphasize healthy technique, musical literacy, expressive playing, and effective practice habits within a supportive and encouraging environment. He enjoys working with students of all ages and strives to help each student build confidence, curiosity, and a lasting love for music.

Outside of teaching, Jon enjoys being involved in his church community, leading worship, staying active, and working on creative music and media projects. He values connection, creativity, and helping others grow both musically and personally.
